HARVEsT MOON Festival
Saturday   September 25, 2010

This popular event begins with a three mile hayride from the winery to the vineyard where the music of the Beeker Street Band fills the air.  It is magical - the vineyard, a great band, bonfire, the moon, wine to drink and food treats to munch on by moonlight.  Give the Harvest Moon credit for great gravitational pull!

The romantic evening begins at the winery where the Harvest Moon Festival goers arrive with blanket in hand and pick up their “wine tote of goodies".  This includes sausage, cheese, loaves of freshly baked French bread, two logo wine glasses, a sweet treat, corkscrew, and a knife. The first order of business is to pick out the bottle of wine that comes with your basket.  Then, stroll to where the wagons load to take people on the leisurely ride to the vineyard under the rising moon.  Departures for the three mile ride begin at 5:45 p.m. and continue every 10 minutes or so until 8:00 p.m.  Tickets are $60/couple or $35 for one.

If you are one of those who is in a rush to eat before the ride, rest easy.  You can come and get a little something to eat at the winery before heading out to the vineyards on the hay wagon. Meramec Vineyard’s Bistro d’Vine will be serving Harvest Supper from 5 – 8 p.m.  It consists of  Boeuf Bourguignon (aka Beef Stew cooked with red wine for flavoring) served in a Bread Roll with a Bistro side salad.  This supper is available to Festival ticket buyers for $12 per person. (For Non Festival goers, the price is $12.95).
At the vineyard, the Beeker Street Band will entertain from 6:30 to 11 p.m.  Find your spot, throw down your blanket, rest your back against a hay bale, pop the cork, relax and enjoy the evening - music, wine, food and the vineyard.  It will be an evening of foot stomping music in the vineyard lit by the nearly full moon, a bonfire and tiki torches.  Enjoy the music, food, and wine in the glow of a moonlit vineyard setting.

A shuttle van returns you to the winery.  It runs on demand until midnight.

For more information and tickets call or email Meramec Vineyards:  573.265.7847 or email mervine@fidnet.com.  $60 for two includes ride and shuttle return, music, and "basket" with goodies.  $35 for a single ticket includes the basket of goodies and one bottle of wine.  Meramec Vineyards is located one mile east of the I-44 St. James Exit (195) on Highway B (the north outer road).  Their wood building with the green roof faces the Interstate.
